The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl-style competition open to students in grades 4 – 12. Participants read books from a designated list and then respond to questions about those books. Each Gwinnett County school is eligible to send one team consisting of up to 10 players to the competition. In the 2024-2025 school year, 87 teams took part in the county-wide event hosted at Peachtree Ridge High School. We are pleased to announce that Couch Middle School’s Readers Rally Team emerged as the 2024-2025 Middle School County Champions.  Couch Middle School is also the 2023-2024 GCPS Middle School Division Two Champions.

Traditionally, the Gwinnett County Readers Rally Competition occurs on the third weekend of February each year. This year's event is scheduled for February 21, 2026, at Peachtree Ridge High School.

BOOK CHECKOUT
Students may check out three books at a time. Books are loaned for two weeks. Students may place items on hold in the media center.
We encourage students to return books within the two-week check-out period as a courtesy to other students who may be waiting to utilize those items.

FINES
Overdue fines will be charged after the book has been checked out for more than 2 months. Lost and damaged beyond repair books will acquire fines through MyPaymentsPlus. Hardbacks are $20.00. Paperbacks are $10.00.

To promote a love for reading and to foster valuable reading skills, Couch Middle School encourages all its students to read throughout the year and to log their reading minutes via our GCPS Beanstack platform. Students are free to read whatever they choose (fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or magazines from their Couch Middle School Media Center). Our goal is simply to keep students reading! When students log into their Couch Middle School Beanstack account, they will see monthly reading contests.  The team with the most logged minutes will win a reading celebration at the end of the school year

Students will use Beanstack to log their minutes. All GCPS students have an active Beanstack account, and students have received training on using Beanstack in their language arts class. Students will use their student number and four-digit birthday (MMDD) to log in.
Students can view a Beanstack tutorial video in English and a tutorial video in Spanish.
